Privacy Policy

Effective date: February 22, 2025

1. Overview

AssembleAI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use our Service at assembleai.app.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in via Manus OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and a unique account identifier. This information is stored in our database and used to manage your account and credits.

Uploaded Files

PDF manuals you upload are stored in secure cloud storage (Amazon S3) and associated exclusively with your account. Files are used solely to generate assembly guidance for you. We do not share your files with other users or third parties, except as required to operate the Service (e.g., passing page images to our AI provider for analysis).

Usage Data

We collect basic usage information such as which projects you create, credit transactions, and step feedback you submit. This helps us operate and improve the Service.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only a Stripe Customer ID to link your account to your payment history. We never store your full card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment details.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • Process payments and manage your credit balance.
  • Generate AI-powered assembly guidance from your uploaded manuals.
  • Respond to support requests sent to our contact email.
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. AI Processing

To generate assembly steps, pages from your uploaded PDF are sent to an AI model (OpenAI GPT-4o) for analysis. These images are transmitted securely and are not used by the AI provider to train their models under our API agreement. We do not retain raw page images beyond what is needed to display your project.

5. Data Retention

Your account data, uploaded manuals, and generated steps are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete a project, the associated files and steps are removed from our systems. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at [email protected].

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Basic, privacy-respecting analytics may be used to understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g., page views); no personally identifiable information is included in these analytics.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on the following third-party providers, each with their own privacy practices:

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, HTTP security headers (via Helmet), cryptographically random file storage paths, and server-side authentication checks on all data access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy law (such as GDPR or CCPA) to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
